Effective ways to hire and retain the best employees

Making your employees feel important is a huge part of retaining your staff. When workers feel irreplaceable and an essential part of the team, they are productive and willing to go the extra mile for their team and their customers. By respecting and listening to your staff, and offering praise when appropriate, you’ll be giving them the motivational push they need to stay loyal and committed.

Ask for feedback from your employees so they feel as though you are listening and are there for them. On the flipside, make sure you are constantly providing feedback for your employees as well. If you let your employees in they will trust you. Make your employees part of the overall big picture by including them in future plans of the company. Take an interest in who your employees are and you can boost morale by planning team building activities outside of work. Try and get to know who you have working for you.

More ways to build trust with your employees is by delegating work without micromanaging. If they feel that they have autonomy studies have shown that these employees stay longer and are happier long-term.

Make sure to recognize progress and reward employees for an excellent job done. Something as simple as a “thank you” goes a long way.

Encourage breaks and provide desirable benefits/perks such as health and dental insurance, 401k, vacation time, etc.
